Volunteer


All the coaching, sport management, administrative functions associated with being part of an international organization, as well as fundraising to ensure maintenance of low participation costs, are performed by volunteers.

We are always looking for Coaches, Assistant Coaches, Sports Managers, Special Event Volunteers and General Volunteers.  No experience necessary! A Special Olympics volunteer need only to be a believer in what we are endeavouring to do and be enthusiastic about achieving it.


The Brockville and Area Community Council will ensure that:

·you are provided with any training or support

·training opportunities, such as NCCP courses, and First Aid, will be provided to interested volunteers

Online applications can be made here.  The completed form is submitted  to the Toronto head office who then distributes it to a Brockville volunteer. If you don’t hear from us in a few days please contact the volunteer coordinator at brockville.volunteerco@specialolympicsontario.ca or another member listed on the ‘Our team’ page and someone will be happy to contact you.

Further application details:

You will be asked for two references and be required to sign that you understand and agree to abide by the code of conduct of Special Olympics. 

As well, you will be  required to obtain a vulnerable sector police check. If you live outside the limits of Brockville you will need to go to an OPP office. Prior to your visit download the following volunteer letter here. (This form is required by the OPP to ensure that there will be no charge for the police check.) However, if you live within Brockville no other form is required for your police check request if you apply in person. However if you apply online you will be required to upload the volunteer letter.  Brockville will charge a $10 fee which we will reimburse, the fee is a bit more for online requests.

Finally, all those associated with sports in Canada are now required to complete the NCCP Safe Sport course. You may have already done this course if you are associated with another sport organization. It is provided by NCCP, National Coach Certification Program, is free and online. To register and take the course go to coach.ca. You will need to set up an account, just your name and an email. If for some reason you are unable to do this, a volunteer will be assigned to you to help get this done.
