Athletes

Become an athlete

Our local sport programs welcome athletes as young as 12, with no upper age limit. Athletes are welcome to participate in as many sports as desired. Athletes can participate in one or all of our 9 sports programs (Basketball, Floor Hockey, Nordic Skiing, Softball, Swimming, Soccer, Track & Field, and Indoor and Outdoor Bocce). These programs are run seasonally on a weekly basis by our dedicated coaches and volunteers.

Athletes who are new to the Special Olympics movement need to register online here. If you prefer to make a paper application please contact our registrar at brockville.registrar@specialolympicsontario.ca. A paper form is available here  and the terms and conditions that need to be read and agreed to are here.  Registration with us will require you to sign that you understand and agree to abide by the code of conduct and the terms and conditions  for Special Olympics.

There is a formal registration process each year in August or September for all athletes whether new or returning. This essentially consists of filling out a form that provides us with up to date contact and medical information. It also allows us to determine the number of athletes in each sport for the following year. If you miss the registration event  you can apply through the process listed above.

Should you have any questions or concerns please contact Brockville and Area’s athlete registrar at brockville.registrar@specialolympicsontario.ca

Most of our sport training programs take place during the evenings and weekends. Most competitions are held on weekends.

There is a yearly registration fee of $25.00 for each athlete to participate in all Special Olympics Brockville and Area programs. Currently, other than the $25 registration fee there are no additional costs to join any of the programs.
