Individuals of all ages and all abilities can train and compete in Special Olympics. Athletes train and compete against athletes of similar ability level.

 Benefits

  • Physical fitness and conditioning
  • Increase in sports skill level and competitive skills
  • Increase in self confidence and social skills
  • In-house training and competitive opportunities available

How To Register As An Athlete

After viewing the Sports pages of this website, determine the sport(s) in which you would like to participate. Contact information is also listed for each sport club so feel free to call or email the coach to ask specific questions about the program.

There are two ways in which to register with Special Olympics, either online at Online Registration form or by filling out a copy of this paper form New Athlete Registration form  If you register online, someone in the Brockville group will contact you within a few days. Should you choose to fill out the paper copy instead, contact the Registrar, see below, or one of the head coaches listed on the sports pages. Regardless of which method you choose you will need to sign that you understand and agree to abide by the code of conduct for  Special Olympics.

There is a formal registration process each year in September for all athletes whether new or returning. This essentially consists of completing page 1 - 4 of the Registration form noted above. This is required in order that current emergency and medical information is available to all of the volunteers and coaches. Each year you will also be asked to affirm you agree with the code of conduct which is expressed in the following document Rules and Expectations If you miss the registration event in September you can apply through the process listed above.

Should you have any questions or concerns please contact Teena Walker at Special Olympics Brockville and Area Registrar.

When Are Your Sport Training Programs?

Most of our sport training programs take place during the evenings and weekends. Most competitions are held on weekends.

What Is the Cost? What If I Can’t Afford It?

There is a yearly registration fee of $25.00 for each athlete to participate in all Special Olympics Brockville and Area programs. Currently, other than the $25 registration fee there is no cost for joining any of the programs, except for the 10 Pin Bowling program which has an additional cost.

NO ATHLETE SHALL EVER BE DENIED THE OPPORTUNITY TO PARTICIPATE IN WEEKLY TRAINING OR COMPETITION OPPORTUNITIES BASED ON LACK OF FINANCIAL RESOURCES.
